The title for this show is a quote from a letter Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo. It expresses how I felt about these paintings when I painted them, as if they were, taken together, a light inside the darkness...a ray of hope within the dark, love in times of sadness.

For this series I chose a limited palette of just 4 colors. Yellow Ochre, Red, Black, and White. The reason for this is, I wanted to challenge myself to explore the idea of limitation and better understand the beauty that hides in the familiar.

This series is dedicated to the memory of D.C. and R.D.
